The call is divided into three thematic focuses:

1. Epistemological and theoretical approach

In this first thematic focus, the use of the terms interculturality or transculturality, pluriculturality, multiculturality, diversity, otherness, plurality, interpersonality, meeting, humanism, etc. as well as intercultural competence(s) (singular or plural) will be questioned. What are the approaches behind the respective use of these terms? What are the limits of the term interculturality in the context of competence(s) or the limits of the concept of competence in the context of interculturality?

2. Studies on practices and methods in the field of intercultural education and training

The second thematic focus relates to education and training in the field of interculturality. What kind of pedagogical approaches / methods / attitudes prove to be relevant for which goals and competences? Is there any evidence of the effects of innovative practices and teaching offers? What contextual conditions are favourable for intercultural learning? Is mobility an intercultural training in itself? Under what conditions can intercultural learning take place during mobility abroad? What role can accompaniment play in this? What place can be given to intercultural learning in non-language disciplines?

3. How can learning in intercultural education and training be evaluated?

This third thematic focus will concern certificates, evaluation and standards. What kind of certificates are appropriate in the field of intercultural education and training? With what standards? How can teaching and learning offers be evaluated? How can the added value for the learners be assessed?

Deadlines: Interested authors are asked to let us know their intention to contribute with a short information by e-mail.

Contributions can be submitted until November 30th 2020, the issue will be published end of 2021.

The submission is made via the electronic submission system of the bildungsforschung. On the website of https://bildungsforschung.org you will find further information on formalities and citation.
